Warning Time:

Roommates. My roommate and I were getting along at the beginning and as time progressed it got harder. I just found out a couple minutes ago that she filed for room transfer and is now is moving out. Nice right, I was never told. Here’s a couple tips, I should have followed before we had our mini-blow out.

Tip 1:

Communication is key. Talk about things. If something is bothering you talk about it because you’ll end up screaming at each other.

Tip 2:

Go with your gut, if you feel like you’ve got a bad feeling about the person when it comes around to room transfer time, transfer. You can easily keep the friendship and just tell them it’s for personal reasons. Blame the environment or something of that matter. Sometimes you just can’t live with some people.

Tip 3:

Be assertive. Do not think that you can save something that isn’t even broken yet. Clear the air instantly. Because if you become meek and mild like I did, they walk all over you.

Tip 4:

Make a contract with your roommate. Stating both your dislikes and likes. that way you know what to expect of each other. You need to be lenient but if you both give and take a little things should work out better.

These tips, I’m not sure would work for you. I’m not sure they would’ve worked for us, but I know they would’ve bettered the situation. It’s always good to think back on your mistakes and try and fix them. I don’t know what’s going to happen from here. I know I asked her to keep me informed but I don’t think she will. I guess I will just find out where this takes. me.

Don’t be frightened though, it’s not always this bad. I’m a rare case.
